Seasonal Docks · SW Michigan

Seasonal docks. In by Memorial Day. Out before ice.

We install, remove, and store seasonal aluminum and vinyl dock systems across Berrien, Cass, St. Joseph, and Van Buren counties — and into Northwest Indiana — so your shoreline is ready when you are and protected when it shouldn't be.

What we do

What we install.

Seasonal docks are the right call for inland-lake homeowners and most residential lakefront properties on Lake Michigan's bays. They go in fast in spring, come out before ice, and store in our facility through the winter. No ice push, no spring repairs, no surprises.

Captain's Choice handles the full annual cycle — pre-season install, mid-season service if anything shifts, and post-season removal and storage. We carry aluminum, vinyl, and composite systems sized from short residential reach docks to 60-foot multi-section runs.

Aluminum Systems

Lightweight, fast to install, and built to handle decades of seasonal cycles. The most common SW Michigan choice.

Vinyl & Composite Tops

Maintenance-free decking that won't splinter, warp, or fade. Pair with aluminum substructure for the longest-lasting seasonal setup.

Floating Dock Sections

Modular floating systems for soft-bottom inland lakes — quick to expand, easy to reconfigure as your boat collection grows.

Mid-Season Service

Storm shifted a section? We come fix it the same week. Included in seasonal contracts.

Fall Removal

Before the first hard freeze we pull, clean, and inspect every section.

Frequently asked

Questions homeowners ask us.

When do you install seasonal docks in SW Michigan?

We start install runs the second week of April depending on water temp and have most St. Joseph, Bridgman, and New Buffalo customers in the water by Memorial Day. Inland lake installs (Sister Lakes, Paw Paw, Indian Lake) typically run a few weeks earlier.

How much does seasonal dock service cost?

A typical residential seasonal package — install, mid-season service, removal, and indoor storage — runs $1,200–$3,500 per year for most SW Michigan homeowners depending on dock length and how far we travel.

Can you store my existing dock if I bought it elsewhere?

Yes. We'll pull, clean, inspect, store, and reinstall any seasonal aluminum or vinyl dock — even if Captain's Choice wasn't the original installer.

Do I need a permit for a seasonal dock?

Most seasonal docks on inland lakes don't require permits. Lake Michigan installations may need a Joint Permit Application through EGLE — we handle the paperwork either way.
